Here we are in
Perth International Airport, and we could be in a zombie movie. We must be the
only people who caught the flight from Brisbane who are continuing on to Dubai;
either that or everyone else has gone to a hotel for 4 hours sleep.
My plan was to
spend the 4 hours lolling about in the Qantas Lounge, but unfortunately it is
closed, as is everything else except for one tiny coffee kiosk! I am thanking
the god of travellers for that!
Ross has just
found a comfortable lounge area outside the Emirates Lounge and we’ve settled
in for the rest of the night. There’s a point for charging phones, and we can
spread out all we want- there’s not a soul in sight!
The 5-hour flight
across the continent was as uneventful as you can get; after watching “Paper
Towns” and eating some chicken noodle salad, I fell asleep for 3 hours. I awoke
to Lindt chocolate balls being handed out just before landing.
Ross had a few
hiccoughs coming through security, but I breezed through. I don’t know what he
had but they checked and double-checked his carry-on, before letting him pass.
We were the only people in the whole security hall- quite a surreal experience,
because normally the whole place is filled with queues snaking back on
themselves.
